The Content & Challenge Model will allow you to create engaging learning experiences that utilize the learning styles and create greater retention.

Here's how it works:

Whenever content is new, it requires a great deal of the learner's brain capacity to absorb it. The learner's brain is processing the information and trying to make connections that will make it last. As a result, when information is new, minimize the risk of the individual student and allow them to work in the large group setting. Repeat critical information in a variety of ways.

Then, move the learners into a small group or paired sharing experience so that they can begin to take ownership for the material. Now the risk can elevate a bit because the students will be accountable to each other.

Finally, after large group work and small group engagement, the learner is now prepared for a higher gradient of risk. Now, the individual can be challenged to apply/demonstrate what they have learned.
