One of the best possible hooking strategies for engaging students, answering their WIIFM and creating an atmosphere/context is storytelling. There is something timeless and universally appealing about a great story. Learn how to tell a great story and you will greatly enhance your ability to connect with students.

Here are the key elements of any great story:

Situation
What is the situation? Who are the characters and what are they trying to accomplish?
Complication
What is the challenge that may prevent the characters from success?
Question
What is the biggest question that you want the audience to think about?
Answer
What is the answer? How does it get resolved?

Use this framework to turn your personal experiences into fantastic learning stories. Practice keeping your stories brief and continue to use enrolling questions and body shots throughout.
