Handling Rejection
Rejection is energy. Turn it around. Take the power back.
Rejection is inevitable. We cannot control other people, their judgment or their negativity. We can control our reaction to it.
Our goal with rejection is to gain information and diffuse the negativity.
Here's how to do it:
1. Acknowledge
The second you receive a rejection, immediately respond with an acknowledgment that you have heard the rejection.
Use simple phrases like..."OK", "great", "I hear you", "sure" or "thank you".
2. Ask Questions
Once you have acknowledge receipt of the rejection, immediately ask a question. This gives you the opportunity to do a few things:
Practice makes progress. Keep practicing this tool and your fear of rejection will diminish.
