The Seeds Method Tracker

Learning by design.

The Seeds Method Tracker indicates the continual and purposeful use of our methodology throughout a piece of curriculum. All of our trainers practice a diverse array of techniques to ensure that we are engaging learners through multiple modalities. This improves engagement, social dynamics and retention.

Here are quick descriptions of the key methods:

Enrolling

Most of our pieces start off with a series of enrolling questions. They are designed to give students an opportunity to get involved without much demand other than throwing their hand up in the air. The movement is visually important and sends a strong signal that this is a participatory environment. Our trainers use a bunch of tools to ramp up enrollment and maintain it throughout. State Change

60% of learners are body based (kinesthetic). That means that the body must be moved to maintain a high level of attention. State Changes are a powerful tool for moving the bodies while maintaining complete control of the classroom. This tool utilizes brain-based strategies like open loops, pattern language and coordinated music. They are easy to spot because they almost always start with, "In 10 seconds when I say GO...".

Body Shot

These are powerfully simple and keep engagement and attention levels very high. Every few minutes our trainers will involve the body with simple, mechanical instructions like, "Turn your head and look this way", "Turn to somebody next to you and give them a high five", "Raise your hand if...". Every one of these is known as a body shot and they are designed to keep that brain and body connection fired up.

Acknowledgment

We believe that focusing on the positive interactions and behaviors will set the tone for what the standards are in the learning environment. We strive to acknowledge participation and effort. Our trainers utilize multiple strategies for doing this and aim to develop supportive, collaborative learning cultures.

Language Tool

We blend tools from NLP, the Hats of Teaching and the learning styles to make sure that we are reaching the auditory receptors of our students. Our trainers utilize pattern language to create consistent ways of working. We also create opportunities for auditory callbacks like, "Turn to your neighbor and say...".

Chunking

The art of giving clear instructions starts with "chunking". This is simply breaking your critical instructions down into step by step chunks that are easy to follow. Great instructions are easy to achieve by implementing a few modality-based tools.
